Can we agree that Sunday morning's were basically made for enjoying delicious breakfasts? In our house, we always take a few extra minutes on Sunday mornings to enjoy a special breakfast which we put the time or effort into during the week. The current favourite at our house is french toast.... Going back to childhood, I can remember my dad and grandma making this on special occasions and always looked forward with HUGE anticipation!
There are as many french toast recipes as there are households who make them, however the basis is always the same: eggs, milk or cream, bread... Ours is pretty much the same, with the addition of maple syrup of course...
Ingredients
1 large loaf of brioche
3 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup of milk
1/3 cup of cream
cinnamon to taste
butter to cook
Preparations
In a medium sized bowl beat the eggs, add in the milk, cream, and maple syrup.
Thickly slice the brioche (according to how you like it, my family likes the slices thick and fluffy!)
Dip the slices in the egg mixture, let it really soak in
over medium heat, heat up butter (try to avoid browning it) in your pan and cook the egg covered brioche (a few minutes on each side until browned!)
Serve with happy maple, fresh fruit, whipped cream- whatever you'd like!
